Yanks beat Mariners 5-2 for third straight victory
The Yankees continue like usual in their winning ways against the Seattle Mariners. The Yankees are now on a roll and it seems like it is hard for anyone to stop them. They have won 12 of the last 13 they have played. When you look at their opponents, the Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Mariners, that is pretty dang successful. They are definitely baseball’s team to beat.
I am sure the Yankees walked off the field tonight not thinking about much, with all things considered, it was just another win. But for the Mariners, who are now 10 1/2 games behind the Angels in their division, I am sure it was a different story. Nobody likes having another team come into their house, and push them around. Honestly though, if you are a Mariner fan, you have got to be wondering one major question…
What was Ichiro doing trying to steal third when there was two outs? My goodness! A man on first and second, with two outs, and Russell Branyan at bat. Could you be anymore retarded Ichiro? Well, for me being a Yankee fan, I could really care less, but my buddy who is a die-hard Mariner fan, well let’s just say he was furious. Hello Ichiro, didn’t you learn in Little League not to make the last out at third? Apparently not. Oh, but to all you Mariner fans out there, don’t worry, he “thought about it.”
“It is as you see it,” he said. “I thought about many different things. I was aware Russell was the batter. I was also aware if Russell hit a home run in that situation, we would have taken the lead. I took all that into consideration and made my move.
“Based on the runner on first, I was hoping to create a situation where there were runners on second and third, and we could tie the game with a hit. But I also understand at the end, it was an out. I thought through the process. I understand why it was an out, and why you ask the questions, but at the same time, I didn’t do it without thinking.”
After that explanation, does that make the loss any easier to take for you Mariner fans? What a joke. Come again Ichiro.
As for the good guys, the Yanks got two clutch home runs from Nick Swisher and Derek Jeter. Swisher hit a two run bomb in the second to give the Yanks the momentum, and then Derek Jeter hit a solo shot in the ninth to help seal the deal. Jeter has now pushed his batting average to a team leading .320.
