Yanks beat Halliday thanks to a quick start
The Yankees started off with a few quick runs off of Halliday, and that was enough for Andy Pettitte to pick up his first win since the beginning of July.
I was most surprised by the way the first inning started off. It looked like a circus the way the Blue Jays were trying to get outs. Luckily, they got out of the inning only trailing by two.
“Getting those two in the first inning was huge for us because it let Pettitte go out there and just relax and do his thing,” Damon said.
But the Yankees weren’t done. They tacked on three more runs thanks to three solo home runs from Matsui, Damon, and Teixeira.
It was a great win for the Yankees, considering that their record against Halliday isn’t all that impre ssive.
Now they just need to play as well as they did today for the rest of the week and they will have a commanding lead in the AL East.

That was a much needed win. I am just glad they beat Halliday. He can be super tough, especially at home.
