Jeter sets all time hits record for a shortstop
Derek Jeter is the man. Enough said, right? Well today he has set a new major league baseball record by recording his 2,674 base hit against the Seattle Mariners. Jeter is in my mind the best all-around shortstop to ever play the game. Honestly, can anyone argue that someone is better? Please try.
Jeter is a very classy and humble player that knows how to address the media. Here are his comments following the game.
“It was kind of hard to believe,” he said. “I just try to be consistent year in and year out. I think if you’re consistent, then good things happen.”
Do ya think? As of right now, Jeter has had 2,674 good things happen to him, and many more to come. He definitely will be playing the game for a few more years, making this record now even more hard for anyone else to ever touch.
“I don’t ever sit around and look back on anything that we’ve done,” Jeter said. “It’s just more of what you can do to try and improve. That’s what you try to do, year in and year out.
“I think being consistent is something that gets overlooked at times, but I think every player strives to be consistent. That’s all you can do.”
Jeter truly is one of the best of the New York Yankees.

Derek Jeter is a great guy and an even better ball player. Hope he continues to have success.
I personally believe that Jeter is one of the top 10 players of all time. Most people throw the big home run hitters into this category, but Jeter is so much more than just numbers. His numbers are incredible, but he brings a presence like nobody else. Is there anyone else you would rather have up in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs? Not me.
