A good buddy of mine posted the following article about the upcoming series finale between these two teams. All I know, is that I wouldn’t want to be behind the plate trying to break up these two teams. If anything does happen, go Yankees!

Check out the following link. It’s a great read!

Opening day. And who better to be playing, the New York Yankees and the Boston Red something or other. We really don’t care about them.

Anywho, the Yankees will be going against one of the best starters in the game in flame throwing Josh Beckett. However, the Red Sox batters are going to have to try to hit off of CC Sabathia and his nasty cheese that he will be hurling tonight.

Seeing that the game will be taking place in Boston, I would say that the Red Sox do have a small advantage. However, lurking in the back of their minds. I am sure, is the way the Yankees played during the second half of the last season. Unstoppable.

I am predicting a Yankees 4-2 victory. Actually, I am going to go out on a limb and guarantee it.

New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman on Sunday didn’t commit to or rule out Chamberlain getting an opportunity to be in the rotation next season. Chamberlain, who Cashman called a starter in the bullpen, was transferred into a role as a reliever on Thursday when he lost his spot to Phil Hughes in the competition for the fifth starter.

Cashman said his focus is on this season and that there have been no meetings on Chamberlain‘s status for 2011.

Chamberlain, who threw a scoreless inning out of the bullpen on Friday, said he is taking things day by day and that it would be unfair to his teammates to look past this season.

NEW YORK (AP) — Hal Steinbrenner says the New York Yankees won’t alter their policy against contract extensions and will deal with Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera and Joe Girardi after the season.

“Everybody does business in a different way,” the team’s managing general partner said Tuesday following a news conference to announce details of the first Pinstripe Bowl at new Yankee Stadium, “I just don’t believe in contract extensions, and that’s throughout the organization, no matter who it is. Hopefully nobody takes that personally. It’s just business.”

Jeter’s $189 million, 10-year contract expires after the World Series, as does Rivera’s $45 million, three-year deal. Girardi is entering the final season of a $7.8 million, three-year contract.

“I’ve got a great relationship with them all,” Steinbrenner said. “I’ve expressed to all of them that, ‘You’re part of the Yankee family and you’re wanted. It wouldn’t be the same without you.’ But as far as no extensions, it’s a business policy of mine.”

Coming off New York’s first World Series title since 2000, the Yankees have sold about 35,000 full-season ticket equivalents, according to chief operating officer Lonn Trost. The Yankees were between 33,000 and 34,000 at this point last year and finished at between 37,000 and 38,000 in the first season of their $1.5 billion ballpark, Trost said.

The Yankees have sold 3 million tickets for this season and have not put individual game seats on sale yet.

New York did have trouble selling some its most expensive seats last year, which were behind home plate and prominent on television cameras. After the first homestand, the Yankees slashed prices on more than 40% of front-row seats by up to 50%. The team gave free additional tickets to many fans who bought seats closest to the field for $325-$2,500 per game.

For 2010, the Yankees reclassified 538 Legends Suite seats, denying those ticket holders access to the duplex restaurant behind home plate, leaving 1,357 seats in the highest premium category. The Yankees cut prices on many remaining tickets by up to $1,250.

“We think we made the right changes,” Steinbrenner said. “I’m glad that we looked into it, and I’m glad we looked into it in a methodical way, didn’t rush into anything.”

Across the street at old Yankee Stadium, the bleachers have been demolished along with part of the upper deck behind third base and in left field.

“A lot of people come up to me, and they’re surprised it’s still up,” Steinbrenner said. “But it’s a big building and it takes a while. I think there’s going to be some emotion when it starts coming down.”

The victory parade will begin on Broadway at Battery Place at 11 a.m. and continue uptown along the Canyon of Heroes to Chambers Street. Then, a ceremony will be held at City Hall Plaza, where Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present the Bronx Bombers with the Keys to the City.

World Series tickets for the 2009 baseball season can now be purchased online through many different vendors.

Today was the first day that the tickets were available, but many fans of the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies were disappointed when they showed up to their team’s stadium box office, only to be turned away. That is right. The tickets for the World Series are currently only available online.

This morning at 10:00 am, yankees.com automatically directed visitors to ticketmaster, where they were able to purchase tickets. However, by 10:07 am, the tickets were all sold out!

Many Yankee fans were very upset, especially those that lined up outside the box office early in the morning, only to be turned away at 9:00 am when the office opened.

Tickets can still be had, but they are only available through private online vendors, and they will cost an arm and a leg to get them.

The Yankees definitely came to play tonight as they routed the Angels 10-1 to take a series lead 3-1. CC Sabathia was lights out and could not be touched. He only gave up one run in eight innings of well executed baseball. The pitch he used the most to shut down the Angels…his power changeup.

Alex Rodriguez also seems to be wanting a World Series ring. He showed up big tonight with three hits and three runs, while Melky Cabrera knocked in four runs of his own. With dominating pitching and hitting, the Yankees have taken a commanding lead in this series.

In the eight innings that featured CC Sabathia on the bump, the Angels were only able to muster up five hits, while between innings, Sabathia could be seen yawning in the dugout as if it was nothing.

Even with only thee days of rest, Yankees‘ manager Joe Girardi knew Sabathia might not have his best stuff, but he chose Sabathia over inexperienced Chad Gaudin or struggling Joba Chamberlain. The choice ended paying off for the Yankees and Girardi.

So this should be one of the most interesting series of the post season. Personally, I think that this series is the series that really matters. I mean, let’s face it, the National League is flat out boring. Nobody that is a true baseball fan like to watch pitchers hit. That is worse than kissing your sister if you ask me.

If the Yankees 1-4 hitters can hit for better than .275 each game, they will have no problem getting the job done against the Angels, however, if they can’t come through, this could go to the Angels. Either way, I feel that the Yankees pitching will show up to play and will not disappoint in the postseason.

Many Yankee fans think that if the weather is rough, it will favor the Yankees, and I couldn’t agree more. When you play in a colder environment, it is the small ball that wins games. When it comes to small ball, the Yankees are probably the best. True, they like to swing for the fence, but they also know when to lay down the bunt or hit a sacrafice fly. Let the rain pour, baby!!
