After 15 innings, A-Rod’s swing says, “GOODNIGHT BOSTON”
After a marathon of a baseball game, Alex Rodriguez’s two-run home run in the bottom of the 15th inningĀ brought a sellout crowd of 49,005 to their feet. The atmosphere was electric in Yankee Stadium. The Yankees beat their hated rivals, the Boston Red Sox, 2-0 in what was an amazing pitcher’s duel between AJ Burnett and Josh Beckett.
Burnett had a crazy night with six walks, yet only one hit, while throwing a stellar seven and two-thirds. It looks like he is back to his winning ways and is now showing Yankee faithful that he is worth $17 million a year. If he continues to perform in big games the way he did tonight, he will be worth every penny as he helps the Yanks win another title.
As for Josh Beckett, I hate the dude, but hey, he pitched am amazing game as well and deserves some credit. He went seven innings with only four hits from the Yankee sluggers. If you ask me, that is impressive. Not many pitchers in the bigs can come close to doing what he did.
While the night went late into the night, fans kept getting more and more excited. The Yankees only had four runners reach third base throughout the fourteen innings, and the Red Sox onlyhad one runner reach third the entire game, Jacoby Ellsbury did it in the first. Thus, suspension had been building all night, from the moment Big Papi claimed he never knowingly took steroids. So, after a little over five hours, the fans were finally allowed to go nuts as A-Rod took a 2 out, 2-1 count, curveball out on a line to the left field bullpen for his first home run in 72 at bats, the longest drought of his career.
